Answer» ok guys got a fun one here just got 13 laptops for my company all gateway NC50A with Win 7 home premium we run Server 2008 R2 in our main office with wireless access points around the building. I have opened 3 of these laptops and so far none of them will connect to the INTERNET using wireless or wired connections. I know they wont see our network cause they are not Pro OS's these don't need to see the server or be part of the domain we have a few computers in office that just hook up for internet and they all work fine.
they don't even try to grab an IP from our DNS or anything. these are right out of the box new. I have already ran the restore on one just to see if that would help it did not SAY issue also downloaded the newest drivers from Gateway for both LAN and WAN cards.
I can connect to wireless at my house and when i go out somewhere but just not at work with these computers. I am stealing someones wireless right now and it works fine. I have 50 computers in this building that are all running off the same wireless and DNS server and everything they all work great just the gateways wont connect. any help on this would be great thanks CliffIs the DHCP service running on the 2008 box? When you plug one of the new laptops in with a cable and load up command prompt, what's the output from the "ipconfig /all" command?SORRY I didn't reply to this sooner but the PROBLEM was I ran out of IP addresses only had a pool of 40 and just ran out trying to put so many computers on the network at one time.Well spotted!
