Solve : Updating Bios or not HELP?

Answer»

Hello,

I'm thinking of replacing my 965 Black Edition 3.4GHz Processor (Which died) with a  FX 8350 the only PROBLEM i have found about changing to the FX 8350 is that a lot of people have been saying they needed to update there motherboards to be able to USE it my motherboard is a M4A89GTD PRO/USB3 and i was wondering if i would need to update mine and if so how would i go about doing that without a processor?

CheersIf you mean update the BIOS without a CPU, there are plenty of companies advertising on the web which will flash your chosen BIOS version onto a chip and mail it to you. COSTS about $10 or equivalent.

Thank you I found that very helpful! But is it a necessary to update my BIOS straight away can I not install the new cpu and then update it?

Think about it. If a motherboard definitely won't run a particular CPU version without a BIOS update to a specific version number, and your motherboard currently has an earlier BIOS version, then you won't be able to install that (currently) unsupported CPU with the old BIOS and then update the BIOS AFTERWARDS, because the computer won't even start.

Do some research (Google is your friend) into CPU, motherboard and BIOS versions.

Flash or not that CPU isn't on the MBoard list...UNLESS it has changed.Your motherboard doesn't support the 8350, as I said in your other thread.  Also, if you'd said there that the CPU had died, you possibly would've got a better response, as you gave the impression you were looking for a faster CPU to replace a working one - an upgrade - rather than replacing a dead one.
