Solve : URL forwarding at home??

Answer»

Long story short, I would like any and all traffic on my machine headed for google.com to be automatically redirected to either 216.239.32.20 or google.com/webhp?nord=1 .

This pertains entirely to non browser based queries. I'm not SURE how to set this up. I'm also not sure of the proper terminology in order to research and find solutions on my own.

I primarily use an OSX machine with WinXP bridged and running through Parallels. I would NEED the WinXP rerouted, but I don't mind if the OSX machine has the same modification.

I appreciate any help. There are a NUMBER of ways to do this. Most simplistic to most advanced in this order:

Edit HOSTS FILE on the Windows XP system to point www.google.com to the IP

Install and set up a proxy with redirection table added for www.google.com to the IP

Install your own DNS in which www.google.com resolves to this IP

---------------------------------------------------------

To have both the Mac and Windows resolving you would need to go with either a proxy or private DNS, or ( *I am unfamiliar with Mac, but edit a HOSTS type of file on the Mac to also PERFORM the same redirection as the Windows XP HOSTS file achieves )Also, does the OP use a router?  Some routers have tools built-in that do that kind stuff with the DNS.
