Also, will a videio card with a PCI express interface fit into a regular PCI slot? No one's answered you YET, you might do a "search" here on video/ graphic CARDS in their database 1st. The PCI-E will "only" fit into a PCI-E slot, a regular PCI slot will not work. Thats all I know on your question, hopefully someone will get back to you. Try the search then one on google 1st. Good Luck. Is this a homework question? Hoventops answered one of your questions.... The memory on a graphics card stores all the data it needs, mainly the textures to apply to 3d models. It is therefore important that the data can be retrieved from the memory quick enough for use by the rest of the graphics card. It is no good having a super-fast card, if it is wasting time waiting for the data to arrive due to slow memory speeds. Does that MAKE it clearer?Quote Hoventops answered one of your questions.... Great answer. Clock speeds on any piece of hardware tell u how fast it can comunicate with the rest of the device (recieve and send data - bandwidth). A graphics card has 2 parts that have clock speeds - the core and the memory. The core's clock speed (or freaquency) is combined with it's ammount of pipelines to give u an idea of it's overall performance. The memory's clock speed along with the memory type and memory bus type to give u an idea of it's bandwidth (how quickly it can recieve and send data to the rest of the computer). In games, the faster the bandwidth of the memory and the faster the core WORKS, the more frames per second (FPS) will the certain card be able to draw, and the better the image quality will be, so its very important. No, u cannot fit a new PCI-E x16 card onto a PCI (2.0) slot. Every card to it's slot. If u were able to do this however and have it working correctly, then the performance would be about /16. |
