Solve : Video output problems? |
|
Answer» I am working on a GATEWAY 835GM Desktop Computer. The motherboard is an Intel (Big Lake) 945G Motherboard with built on video. The original problem with the computer was causing the display to go haywire. It was obvious to me to install a video card. So I purchased the PCIE 16 Geforce N6200 video card and installed it. EVER since then, when turning on the computer there is no output to the monitor (about %50 of the time). Everything powers up, just no output to the monitor. The other %50 of the time however, everything works absolutely perfectly. It appears to be TOTALLY random, the only slight pattern I have noticed is that it appears less likely to work after the PSU is unplugged from the wall. I have reseated the memory, etc. In the BIOS I have the video output changed from Auto to PCIE 16. Any comments or ideas would be great! Thanks in advance!Did you re-seat the vid card ? ?Yes I have re seated the video card numerous times. I was inclined to test the power supply however I recently noticed that when I remove the new graphics card and run in off of the old built on video it seems to start up %100 of the time. Its almost as if sometimes it chooses to run the video off of the one card and sometimes off of the built on video. I think I will try restarting with the new card until it doesn't show up and then switching cable to old build on video to see if that's running (taking over). Will let you know asap. I tried this and it makes no difference. When the video doesn't show it makes no difference which jack the monitor is plugged in to. Even after no video at startup if I switch to the other jack it makes no difference. Also, this has been tried with multiple monitors. Try the card in another slot. |
