Solve : Viewing computer on TV Screen?

Answer»

Hello~
I was wondering if there was any additional WIRES or cables needed in order to view your computer on your TV?
The back of my TV has a plug for a monitor labeled PC Monitor and I can plug my computer into the TV and when I first turn it on, I'm able to see the startup screen wher eit SAYS Dell or some crap. But as SOON as it loads windows (or at least that's what it seems like) the TV goes blank. Besides the other question, does anyone have an idea what's going wrong there? ^^
Dell Dimension E521 is my comp model, if it matters, and the TV is from Sansui. I can get model # if it's needed probably to help.
Thanks in advance for any help, and if you need more info just ask ><.Is the TV a high definition unit? If yes it is very doable with the right cables and video card. I am currently successfully doing this with a Dell XPS DESKTOP and an HDMI TV.truenorthWhat's the plug on the TV, is it a standard VGA, or something else?

What are the other TV inputs? And what outputs do you have on your computer?Quote from: rthompson80819 on May 03, 2010, 05:29:36 PM

Yes, there is a standard VGA port for the normal blue monitor cables
There is also spots labled
PC/HDMI Audio IN
HDMI 1/2
and the standard ones for the cable.
Yes the TV is HD, and as far as I know, my video card is something like Radeon x1300 Lol
Thanks for the responses and any other ones. The TV will display until Windows begins loading. Once in Windows, you need to use the Catalyst Control Center (CCC, for ATI) or Windows display properties to activate and set the screen to what you want it to be.

If you want Windows to ALWAYS display on the TV first, and only on the TV, then set the OPTION with the TV as the primary monitor, and set it as single view.

If you want Windows to use your desktop monitor as the main and the TV as the second with a desktop that spans both screens, set the desktop monitor as the primary and select extended desktop mode.

If you want the same display on both the TV and the monitor, set the monitor as primary and select clone mode.Very helpful, thank you. I"ll have to try that next time ^^
