Solve : Wake on Lan -Another issue with 802.1x?

Answer»

In order to save resources I have configured all NIC (Intel various) to use Wake on LAN, when not in use to go to sleep.
This reduces the electric connectivity with the switch. When this happens the switch sends the work station to the VLAN with no service.
Is there a way to use this feature WOL and not have the switch not recognize the work station? Can you provide more detail? What details do you need?
The NICS are various Intel CARDS all with WOL capabilities.
The Switches are all CISCO, the protocol for connectivity is 802.1x
Wake on LAN reduces the bandwidth between the card and the switch
when this happens the switch sees the work station as non-compliant and sends it to a VLAN with no Network capabilities.
I am looking for a way to KEEP WOL and keep the workstation in the VLAn with Network services.I got to ask.....what are you really saving using WOL?
