Answer» I need to know how to launch my personal website from my home PC through my DSL Internet.
I know that DSL have dynamic IPs, but i want to learn the procedure only.
I have my website name purchased. You do it... through research: http://www.google.com/search?q=running+a+website+from+a+home+pc
There are a ton of resources and EXPLANATIONS out there if you put in a little effort. Will your PC be online 24/7?You may already have free web space waiting. Ask your local Inherent provider if that have a personal page for you. Your registrar, the company that sold you a domain, may have AONE page site for your personal use. Other wise, it is a real pain to get the domain to use your personal computer as the web site location.
Yes, you can learn more about this if ypui just do some research. Or read a book.
If your want a website for self expression and social statements, forget about the technology. There are already are many places that will let you have a social page somewhere on the web. Like http://Facebook.com is popular.
If you want a cool looking blog site go to http://woredpress.org and get a free site. But you will have to read a book to help you understand how it works.
Find the book at http://barnesandnoble.com
Post Script. But if you really want to know the direct answer to your question it will take a rather long lecture to explain how to host from your PC.i use WORDPRESS , they very good and helpful on the forumQuote from: Geek-9pm on June 04, 2010, 03:30:56 PM If you want a cool looking blog site go to http://woredpress.org and get a free site. Is this the main computer you use? If so, then you'll want to take a look at the security risks involved. You set up the server on your local machine. There will be a directory dedicated to the home server. All the web files must be in that STRUCTURE. The rest of the PC will not be seen on the web. You can get to the web page from any machine on local area network. To get it onto the web, you have to get help from a dynamic server that will manage your DNS for you. You set name servers to the ones given by a company that will manage a DNS Zone for you.

A web server is software that continuously runs on a computer and allows other computers to download documents from it. This text that you're READING right travelled over a network connection from Lifehacker's hosting web server to your browser. Web servers are usually loud, scary, headless machines in cold windowless rooms, but you can run one under your desk at home.
Why would you want to run a home web server? Maybe you want to download files on your home computer from anywhere. Like, say, your digital music collection. In this how-to, we'll set up a home web server that lets anyone (with the right password!) connect to your computer and download your MP3's from it, for a nice way to share your music collection with friends, or play a song from your home machine at the office for co-workers. http://lifehacker.com/124212/geek-to-live--how-to-set-up-a-personal-home-web-server
