Solve : what kind of modem do I need to connect my tablet and PC without wifi?

Answer»

I'm sure the question doesn't make sense, but please let me explain. First I am in the military and travel a lot. Some of the places I go have no wifi, and SOMETIMES no cell recpetion. My hobby is djing, so in my downtime I dj for my own personnel ENJOYMENT on my laptop. On my tablet I have program (TouchOSC) that sends a wifi signal to the dj program (Traktor) I useon my laptop.

I am looking for something that I could use to create a wifi signal between my tablet and laptop.
Is this even possible? If so how, and using what equipment or software?

Unfortunately TouchOSC is not bluetooth or usb cabable.

The only real requirement I have is to keep any external equipment as small and portable as possible. If it does require external equipment having it be able to use usb power instead of it's own power source that would be positive.

Equipment
Laptop - Toshiba Qosmio X770
                Processor - Intel 2nd Gen Core i7 i7-2630QM / 2.0 GHz ( 2.9 GHz ) ( Quad-Core )
                RAM - 8.0 GB
Tablet - Samsung Note 10.1

Thank you for any assistance
You might be able to create an Ad Hoc Wifi connection between your Laptop and the Tablet, although I dont own a tablet to know if it supports Ad Hoc Peer to Peer type networking. Or lug around a small wireless router which offers up wireless connection with DHCP and connect between these 2 devices through the router. The good thing about routers also is that they can be powered off of a battery if need be. I have seen some mod hacks done to run them off of battery packs etc if you have no outlet available. I have seen them operate on voltages of 7.5, 9, and 12 volts to where people have used them away from the power grid or without a inverter to convert 12VDC car battery to 120VAC for the power supply which then converts 120VAC back to 7.5VDC etc, as well as power everything else off of the inverter which is rated ligh enough wattage to hold all devices power up concurrently.

Here is a cheap router that you can bridge the 2 devices with that also wouldnt take up much space. Just not sure of the DC voltage requirement of the device if you want to perform a battery PACK mod for it. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833416001

For $15, I picked up one of these just a few minutes ago so that I can run 2 secure wifi networks at home, since we want to limit the times of day that our daughter can have internet access so that she doesnt fire up her computer at 2am and surf the web etc and then not want to wake up the next morning for school etc. Going to connect this to a outlet timer so that her wifi access is active only certain hours of the day, while ours is active 24/7 without interruption..LOL  A wireless router shroud do what you want.

Here on CH there is no Android FORUM. So I have to recommend you go to on of the many other places that have an Android forum.
