Answer» I have a Sky Router with Sky broadband.but they don't last i am on my 4th in 3 year's before they have been replaced now i have to BUY it . the cost around £37. is there a better one i can buy. that is compatible.
thank you.Unfortunately with Sky you need one of their routers. You would have to check with them if there are any others that are compatible.I believe you can switch a Sky DSL router to what is, in effect, modem-only MODE and connect it to another router, but it would involve going against Sky's terms and conditions since you would have to extract the password and also you would have to CONFIGURE the second router's firewall. To replace the Sky router completely you would have to do MAC spoofing which is against the Sky Ts and Cs. Quite a lot of people in this situation switch DSL suppliers. I am with Virginmedia (cable) and they place no restrictions on people switching to modem only mode and using other routers, in fact they tell you how to do it. Thanks to all of you for the replys' seems i'm stuck with what i'v got .still it's working so why fix it. Routers are small physical devices that join multiple networks together. Technically, a router is a Layer 3 gateway device, MEANING that it connects two or more networks and that the router operates at the NETWORK layer of the OSI model.
