What's wrong with D-Link? I have a wifi router/ADSL modem, USB wifi adapter, and a PCI wifi card all made by D-Link. No issues with any of them. No issues with any of them.Since you asked, I've got one (actually the 3rd one, they say "3's the charm".). The WiFi was completely unusable until I changed the firmware. http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/D-Link_DIR-632 The biggest knock about this router is it's frequent WIFI drops and lockups when using the stock firmware. Installing DD-WRT corrects this isssue. I had an older model that was given to me because the WiFi only worked some of the time. D-Link Customer Service is completely clueless. Got a replacement under warranty, same problem. It crashed, got a 3rd one.Interesting. Never had that problem with my old D-Link or my new one. I only had to buy a new one because the old one's ADSL modem no longer supported some change to the infrastructure my ISP made. I run my desktop wired, but my wife's desktop, my 2 laptops, my GALAXY tab, wife's iPhone, and her sister's laptop all run wireless and never had an issue in the house (or a few houses down).I have no problems at all with the DD-WRT firmware. The other issue was the factory firmware required the use of the D-Link Shareport software to access the router's USB port. This software was really bad & only allowed access by 1 computer at a time. The DD-WRT firmware has USB configuration built-in. I use an old WD Passport 60GB USB drive as a NAS drive. With a hub, you can add ADDITIONAL drives (even flash drives), all configured from the router firmware. It saved the purchase of a dedicated NAS drive. DIR-632 Wireless N 8-Port Router |
