Solve : Why can I not connect to the internet at all??

Answer»
I have tried connecting to several wireless NETWORKS and a physical broadband connection and have failed to get connected to the internet on both browsers (Firefox, IE)

My computer tells me that I am connected to the networks, even telling me that it cannot find anything wrong with the connections, but no program dependent on the internet will work. Skype, iTunes, Sony store, etc. I also cannot access any webpages, with FireFox saying that it has a "Network Timeout". The connections are good and strong, but nothing WORKS!

I'm on my last nerve. I recently got a job that requires me to have internet on the go, and I am frustrated like you wont believe. I'm CONTEMPLATING taking my laptop to be looked at, but I'm worried about the cost.

I'm using Windows VISTA on a Satellite A215-S4757

Two things. If your job requires you to have internet access wherever you go then it is up to your job or yourself to make sure you pay for a mobile broadband connection from the cell phone carriers like Sprint. STOP hoping that you'll be able to leech off other people's wifi.

Second, just because you connect to someone's wireless network does not automatically mean you have internet access. Networking, whether wired or wireless, is meant to connect PCs together and not necessarily for internet access. So that's probably why you can't do anything internet related. Perhaps the networks you are connecting to are just to connect their PCs and not for an internet connection. Lets not forget firewalls configured to not allow certain traffic, especially if it's from unknown pc.Also, there could be DHCP or DNS issues.
