Solve : Win7 DHCP client - requesting a minimum lease time?

Answer»

I am in College, and they have campuswide Wi-Fi. I thought this would be a good thing, as it would let me SSH in to my Linux BOX and do work there. Except it keeps disconnecting from the network, and PuTTY keeps complaining from this. I have isolated the problem to the network's 15 minute DHCP lease time, and I don't know if the IT department can or will change it. I've already tried, and static IP addresses don't seem to work. So now I wonder if there is a WAY to request, from the DHCP server, a minimum lease time to use. I don't want to keep reconnecting to the network evry 15 minutes, and I keep hanging SSH sessions because of this.Good evening Cricket_Lover and welcome back to CH

In a SHORT answer no if they have it set to refresh the IP ever 15 min unless you have access to the routers interface to make the changes you are STUCK.

I know that this is not what you wanted to know, Mike
