I'm TRYING to set up a peer-to-peer network with my old HP computer running Windows ME without a router.
The cable is connected to each NIC card, the IPs are set in Control Panel, but I keep getting "Network cable unplugged" ERRORS on my XP laptop, the one I'm using now to type and to access the internet, which I want to share with the other computer as well.
I've done the Network Wizard on both computers and still no dice. Can anyone troubleshoot this please? Would be great to get these computers running on the Internet!!

-- dairyman.You need to use a cross over cable if you want to connect two machines TOGTHER like that....
I am using a CAT. 5 Cross over cable from one Broadcom NIC to a Hewlett Packard Ethernet Adapter.
