Solve : wireless card sometimes works after startup, sometimes not.?

Answer»

I recently bought a refurbished Dell Latitude D600 laptop, running windows XP. Sometimes when I boot up wireless is present and works fine for as long as the computer is on. Other TIMES it doesn't work, and either doesn't APPEAR in device manager or appears with a yellow exclam next to it (!).

When this happens, "smartcardbus controller" also appears in device manager with (!) next to it, so I've been suspecting a device conflict, but when I go into the resources tab, instead of listing a conflict it says "This device isn't using any resources because it has a problem."

Also, often when I startup I get two beeps and a screen that says "press F1 to continue, F2 to enter setup." But not always.

Does anyone have any ideas here, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Here are a few things I've already tried, to no avail:
-updated the drivers
-updated BIOS
-replaced the wireless card with a new one

Thanks all...Is this laptop still COVERED by warranty? If so you might want to inquire about this and get another. This sounds serious when you are getting press F1 or F2 to continue etc, like a HARDWARE failure.Actually yes--in fact I'm sending it back today...I finally just GAVE up on it.
