Answer» Alright so basically, I'm running a netgear router to 3 other computers in the house. We recently got a new router because our linksys one kept cutting out all the time.
On the one computer, I can't get it to connect. I'm using a Belkin WIRELESS card on it. It will pop up and say "wireless networks DETECTED in range of this computer, click for further information" but whenever I do that, nothing shows up in the available networks section. Also if I go to the belkin wireless utility, it shows up in there, says the signal is fine and all that, but still won't connect to it.
It worked fine prior to switching the routers, I've tried rolling back the driver, creating a new wireless connection, repairing (says it can't because it can't turn off the network adapter, I've done it manually and tried it, still didn't work) I'm totally clueless about what else to try, my cd-rom on that computer recently stopped working so I can't really re-install the belkin utilities.
Should I try to find a driver for the wireless card and try updating it? I've tried everything I can think of. Any other suggestions are welcome. Thanks guys/girls I am going to attempt at an answer here* be gentle!!
What "I" did was , I went to my computer (admin) and went thru wndws XP setup a new wireless connection ....I ran thru the setup and saved* it on a flash memory stick*
I then went to the other computer in another house and put the flash drive in the usb port and downloaded it c:/
then I did the same thing on that computer but not a "new" connection
does this make sense at all to you ? It worked for me......
(might have to delete all the other setups you might have tried at this point before attempting this....) "On the one computer, I can't get it to connect." Does that mean the others connect OK?
You don't say if the computers can talk to eachother in your POST. If they can, try this. Take the Belkin cd with the software for your wireless card, copy it to a folder on one of the other machines / share that folder / access that folder from the one with the bum CD / RUN the utility. Turn off or do not use the Windows wireless utility
Post back with the results.
