Solve : Wireless Network Authentication Problem?

When there is no PASSWORD for my wireless NETWORK I can easily connect with no problem. But when I want to MAKE it secure, i.e set a password for it, says: "windows cannot see any network within the range"
It does not even ASK for my authentication.
What it can be?
