Answer» I currently have a wired network with a SERVER running Windows Server 2000, I was given 20 new PCs that need to be connected wirelessly. I know I have to get a wireless NIC for my server, do I need any other HARDWARE?
I'm still a beginner at this so if anyone could help that would be great!
Thank youNo, you don't need a wireless NIC for server. You need an access point (connected through a wire to the rest of the wired network) and a wireless NIC for each computer that will be connected by wireless to your network. As access point you may use a wireless router that can be set up to work only as an access point (PLEASE CHECK this detail before ACQUIRING a wireless router).
Thanks, do you know any good makes of wireless routers? Any known brand: Linksys, D-Link, Belkin, will do.
