Answer» Hello every one I have a lenovo thinkpad edge E530c.And my wireless hardware radio switch is off,and I can't turn it on no matter what, I've tried the keyboard switch windows mobility center(the on/off button is grey), I checked the drivers uninstalled and reinstalled them.So if anyone knows the REASON why or the SOLUTION ,I would really appreciate if anyone would respond. This can be caused by one of many possibilities:
1.) Wrong, bad or missing driver 2.) Problem with the OS that causes the NIC to malfuncton 3.) Hardware issue with damaged switch 4.) Hardware issue with damaged wireless adapter
Have you verified that in Hardware Manager the Wireless Adapter looks to be healthy without ant Red or YELLOW warnings etc?Yes i have i also scaned for changes disabled and enabled the driver ,but the switch remains greyIs the network adapter healthy in hardware management?I've checked but it says that "device is working properly".Options are pretty limited... you can back up your data to an external drive and then rebuild the system clean from image that came with the computer. All other options at this point are going to come at a cost to replace hardware pieces until solved, I would rebuild it clean to make sure its not a Windows caused problem and that its a true hardware problem. Also with the cost of wireless adapters these days that fit flush in a USB slot, it might make sense if the hardware is bad for wireless to just buy a $15 wireless USB NIC for this computer if the wireless is dead that came with the computer. I have bought a few of these for people who were using PCMCIA Network adapters which were cards hanging out the side of their laptops that they complained were a pain to have to remove and reinsert and have to WORRY about BUMPING them and breaking them. I have 3 of these and they work well, even on an old Pentium III laptop it works on USB 1.1 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833315091&cm_re=usb_edmax-_-33-315-091-_-Product
Note: These adapters work well around a strong wifi signal, but if your signal is weak you will want to get one that has an antenna as for signals of 2 bars or less seem to have communication issues, most likely because of the fact that the antenna is so small in these that they receive well, but the transmission distance is limited. If you have a 3 bar or stronger signal to connect to your probably fine with one of these.DaveLembke thank you for your time, and your very helpfull answers.
