Ssolution with a high concentration of H+ions |
|
Answer» Answer: Pure water dissociates SLIGHTLY into equal CONCENTRATIONS of hydrogen and hydroxyl (OH−) ions. For a neutral solution, [H+] is 10−7, or pH = 7. For larger hydrogen ion concentrations, then, the pH of the solution is < 7. For example, if the hydrogen ion CONCENTRATION is 10−4, the pH = 4 and the solution is acidic. |
