1.

State Snell’s law of refraction.

Answer»

SNELL’S LAW:

The ratio of the sine of the angle of incidence to the sine of the angle of refraction is a constant, for the light of a given colour and for the given pair of media.

We have:

\(\frac{sin} {sin}\) = constant = µ

µ is called the refractive index of the second medium with respect to the first.

According to Snell's Law :

The sine of angle of incidence to the sine of angle of refraction is always constant for same given medium .

Sin  /  Sin  = constant  =  µ

And that constant is the refractive index (µ) of the second medium with respect to first medium .
