Answer» Ethanoic acid turns blue litmus solution red being acidic in nature, whereas ethanol doesn't change the colour of the litmus solution. To distinguish between ethanol and Ethanoic acid Take 10 ml of Ethanol and 10 ml of Ethanoic acid in two different test tubes. Take two strips of blue litmus paper and die then in above test tubes. There is no change in the colour of litmus paper which is dipped in alcohol. Blue litmus turns to red, which is dipped in ethanoic acid.
