The circumference of a circle is 264 cm. Find its area.

Answer»

Let the radius of the circle be r cm.

Then, its circumference = 2πr cm

∴ 2πr = 264

= 2 × (22/7) × r = 264

= (44/7) × r = 264

= r = 264 × (7/44)

= r = 42 cm

∴Area of the circle = πr²

= (22/7) × 42 × 42

= 22 × 6 × 42

= 5544 cm²
