The difference between the two molar specific heat of a gas is 8000J.kg/k.If the ratio of the specifics heat is 1.65. calculate the two molar specific heats.

Answer»

Given: The difference between two molar specific heat of gas is 8000 J.kg/K and the ratio of two specific heat is 1.65.

Solution:

Let x and y be molar specific heat of two given gases.
The difference between molar specific heat = 8000 J.Kg/K'

∴ x - y = 8000 ........(1)              (let x > y)
ratio of specific heat is 1.65
∴ x/y = 1.65
⇒ x = 1.65y .......... (2)

Now, putting Eqn(2) in Eqn(1) we get,

1.65y - y = 8000
⇒ 0.65y = 8000
⇒ y = 8000/0.65 = 12307.6923

And, x = 1.65y ⇒ 1.65*12307.6923
x ⇒20307.692295

Thus,

y 12307.69
x 20307.69
