1.

The hypotenuse of a triangle is 2.5 cm. If one of the sides is 1.5 cm. find the length of the other side.

Answer»

Let c be hypotenuse and the other two sides be b and a

According to the Pythagoras theorem, we have

c2 = a2 + b2

2.52 = 1.52 + b2

b2 = 6.25 −2.25 = 4

b = 2 cm

Hence, the length of the other side is 2 cm.
