The length of a rectangle is (3x + 2) units and it’s breadth is (3x – 2) units. Find its area in terms of x. What will be the area if x = 20 units.

Answer»

Area of a rectangle = length x breadth

= (3x + 2) x (3x – 2) = (3x)2 – 22 = [9x2 – 4] Sq. units

If x = 20, Area = 9 x 202 – 4 = 9 x 400 – 4

= 3600 – 4 = 3596 Sq. units
