Solution :LIGANDS like `CO, CN^(-)` and `NO^(+)` have EMPTY `pi`-orbitals which can overlap with the metal `t_(2G)` orbitals forming `pi`-bonds. This is called back bonding. As they accept ELECTRONPAIRS from `t_(2g)` orbitals of the metal, they are called `pi`-acids or `pi`-acceptors.
