The radius of a circle whose area is equal to the sum of the areas of two circles of radii are 5 cm and 12 cm is

Answer»

Given two circle radii are 5cm and 12cm
Then,
Area of circle of radius 5 cm =πr2=π(5)2
 =25π sq cm
Area of circle of radius 12 cm =πr2=π(12)2 =144πsq cm
So area of circle whose area equal to sum of rheas two circle=25π+144π=169π sq cm
Let the radius of the resultant =R cm
∴πR2=169π
⇒R2
 =169
⇒R=13cm
