Answer» The salient features of IDMI scheme are: The scheme would facilitate education of minorities by augmenting and strengthening school infrastructure in MINORITY Institutions in order to expand facilities for formal education to children of minority communities. The scheme will cover the entire country but, preference will be given to minority institutions (private aided/unaided schools) located in districts, blocks and towns having a minority population above 20%, The scheme will inter alia encourage educational facilities for GIRLS, children with special needs and those who are most deprived educationally amongst minorities. The scheme will fund infrastructure development of private aided/unaided minority institutions to the extent of 75% and subject to a maximum of Rs. 50 LAKHS per institution for strengthening of educational infrastructure and physical facilities in the existing school including ADDITIONAL classrooms, science / computer lab rooms, library rooms, toilets, drinking water facilities and hostel BUILDINGS for children especially for girls.
