The volume of a 500 g sealed packet is 350 cm3. Will the packet float or sink in a saturated salt solution, if the density of the solution is 1.2 g cm–3 ? What will be the mass of the solution displaced by this packet? |

Answer» Density of the sealed packet = m / v = 500/350 = 1.4 g cm-3 As the density of the packet is greater than that of the saturated salt solution, the packet will sink. Mass of the solution displaced = Volume of the packet × Density of the solution. = 350 × 1.2 = 420 g. |
