Two cars start towards each other, from two places A and B which are at a distance of 160 km. They start at the same time 08 ∶ 10 AM. If the speeds of the cars are 50 km per hour and 30 km per hour respectively, they will meet each other at1. 10 ∶ 10 AM2. 10 ∶ 30 AM3. 11 ∶ 10 AM4. 11 ∶ 20 AM

Answer» Correct Answer - Option 1 : 10 ∶ 10 AM

Given:

The distance between A and B = 160 km

Speed of car1 = 50 km per hour

Speed of car2 = 30 km per hour

Concept used:

If two trains are moving in opposite directions at u m/s and v m/s, then relative speed is = (u + v) m/s

Formula used:

Time = Distance/Speed

Calculation:

Relative speed = (speed of car1 + speed of car2)

⇒ Relative speed = (50 + 30) = 80 km/hr

⇒ Time = Distance/Time

⇒ Time = 160/80 = 2 hours

They start at the same time 08 ∶ 10 AM

⇒ Time = 08 ∶ 10 AM + 2 = 10 : 10 AM

∴ They will meet each other at 10 : 10 AM
