Two cars travelled equal distances at the speed of 50 kmh"1 and 40 kmh"1 respectively. What is the distance if one car takes 5 hours longer than the other ?

Let the DISTANCE = x km
Time TAKEN by first car = x/50 hrs
Time taken by 2ND car = x/40 hrs
x/40 - x/50 = 5;
5x - 4x/200 = 5;
∴ x = 1000 km
