Answer» SOLUTION : The ignition temperature of white phosphorus Oleum is very low as COMPARED to RED phosphorus.And hence it catches fire in the presence of air. So White phosphorous is PRESERVED under water as it s density is high. The phosphorus settles down.As a result it is not exposed to air.Whereas red phosphorus has a high ignition temperature and does not catch fire on exposure to air. So it is stored in normal glass bottles.
