Hepatitis is a kind of viral infection which causes inflammation of the LIVER. There are 5 different types of hepatitis each of which is caused by different types of viruses. Hepatitis A is caused by hepatitis A virus and is transmitted by contaminated food and water.Hepatitis B is caused by hepatitis B virus and is spread by contact with infectious BODY fluids such as vaginal SECRETIONS and semen. Hepatitis C is caused by hepatitis C virus and is also transmitted through sexual contact. Hepatitis D is a serious liver disease and is spread by infectious body fluids.
