Acidity? Our stomach contains GASTRIC glands which releases hydrochloric acid which ACTIVATES the pepsinogen ENZYME to become pepsin. Also, it kills the bacteria and GERMS in the food. But when these acid increases due to indigestion, the acid causes severe pain in stomach.Why to use Milk of Magnesia? To neutralise the excess amount of acid in our stomach, we use a mild base like Milk of Magnesia which contains Magnesium hydroxide, this neutralises HCl and causes some relief. We can also use Sodium hydrogen CARBONATE (Baking soda), which is also an mild edible base and neutralises the acidity in the stomach.
