To neutralise the excess amount of acid in our stomach, we use a mild base like Milk of Magnesia which contains Magnesium hydroxide, this neutralises HCl and causes some relief. We can also use Sodium hydrogen CARBONATE (Baking soda), which is also an mild edible base and neutralises the acidity in the stomach.
