1.	What are rare earths?
Answer» Lanthanoids or 4f - block elements are called rare earths. Lanthanoids are never found in free state, and their minerals are not pure. They exhibit similar chemical properties hence cannot be extracted and separated by normal metallurgical processes. Lanthanoid metals are available on small scale. Therefore they are called rare earths.
