The chlorine radical reacts with ozone and breaks down ozone molecule as follows

Cl. + O3 ‐‐‐‐‐ > ClO. + O2

ClO. radical further reacts with atomic oxygen and produces more chlorine radicals as follows

ClO. + O ‐‐‐‐‐‐ > Cl. + O2
