What do we mean by living fossil? |

Answer» Living fossil- an ORGANISM (such as a horseshoe crab or a ginkgo TREE) that has remained essentially unchanged from earlier geologic times and whose close relatives are usually extinct.Other examples of living FOSSILS are SINGLE living species that have no close living relatives, but are survivors of LARGE and widespread groups in the fossil record. For example: Ginkgo biloba. Syntexis libocedrii, the cedar wood wasp. |
