The first census in India was done in 1881, and since then, it is done at the gap of every 10 years in India. Before the year 1921, India was in the first stage of demographic transition, where both birth rate and death rate were high. While after 1921, it went into the second stage, where death rate decreased but the birth rate remained high. . |
