What happen if HCl gas passed in NaCl solution ?

Answer»

Solution :(i)`NaCl_((s)) hArr Na_((aq))^(+) + Cl_((aq))^(-)` saturated solution
(ii)`HCl_((g)) overset(H_2O)to H_((aq))^(+) + Cl_((aq))^(-)`
Here, `Cl^-` is COMMON ION so concentration is increase so reaction TAKE place in reverse DIRECTION and solid precipitation of NaCl take place.
So with HIGH purity solid NaCl obtained and impurities of `Na_2SO_4` and `MgSO_4` removed.
