What happens when copper sulphate mix with water

Answer» When pure copper sulphate is kept in water it starts to dissolve and in this process a small amount of heat energy is released due to hydration enthalpy released during the dissolution . It’s colour changes to blue colour because 5 molecules of water get attached to it . These molecules are referred as the water of crystallisation. Due to this it gets a peculiar blue colour . Due to this colour it is referred as “Blue Vitriol”.
