Answer» Codon is a unit of genetic coding, consists of a series of three adjacent bases (triplet) in one polynucleotide chain of a DNA or RNA molecules, which codes for a particular amino acid during synthesis of proteins in a cell. For example, ATA codes for Leucine. Start codon : The codon AUG specifies the first amino acid, methionine, in protein synthesis. End codon : UAG also referred to as amber codon, in mRNA which terminate translation. |
