CONFINED spaces are regulated under OSHA Confined SPACE STANDARD 29 CFR 1910.146. A confined space has very particular attributes. Notice none of these have anything to do with atmospheric hazards.

  1. It is of a size and shape that will allow entry by a PERSON.
  2. There are few, perhaps only one, openings to entry or exit.
  3. It is not designed for continuous occupancy.
