A ROUTED PROTOCOL carries data from one NETWORK to another network. Routed Protocol carries user traffic 

such as file transfers, web traffic, e-mails etc. 

EXAMPLE:- IP (Internet Protocol), IPX (Internetwork Packet Exchange) and AppleTalk.
