What is air pressure? |

Answer» The atmosphere is present around our Earth and it is a thousands of kilometers thick coat made up of many gases. This gaseous cover exerts pressure on the land, which is called air pressure. It is often expressed as atmospheric pressure exerted on any regional unit of the surface. The average air pressure on the ocean surface is 1013.25 millibars. The air pressure decreases upwards above the surface. At an altitude of about 540 meters from the sea level, the amount of air pressure is half of that the sea level. |
