| Answer» Seed dormancy\xa0is\xa0defined\xa0as a state in which\xa0seeds\xa0are prevented from germinating even under environmental conditions normally favorable for germination. These conditions are a complex combination of water, light, temperature, gasses, mechanical restrictions,\xa0seed\xa0coats, and hormone structures.\xa0Seed dormancy\xa0allows\xa0seeds\xa0to overcome periods that are unfavourable for seedling established and is therefore\xa0important\xa0for plant ecology and agriculture.
