What is DNA and RNA ?What is the function of DNA and RNA?

Answer» DNA (Deoxyribonucleic Acid) is a double helix, which looks very much like a twisted ladder. Each "rung" of the ladder (the part you step on) is a nitrogenous base. The sides of the ladder are made of sugar and phosphate groups, with the sugars being the ones that hold the nitrogenous bases in place. Each nitrogenous base pairs ONLY with another, never crossing over. (Adenine and Thymine, Guanine and Cytosine). It\'s a bit like a puzzle where the pieces will only fit together that way. RNA is like half of the ladder. The basic structure is the same, but there is only one nitrogenous base along it. However, RNA does not have the base Thymine. It has Uracil instead. Also, the sugar in DNA is deoxyribose while the sugar in RNA is ribose.
