Ganglia are ovoid structures containing cell bodies of neurons and glial cells supported by connective tissue. Gangliafunctionlike relay stations - one nerve enters and an other exits.

Among vertebrates there are three major groups ofganglia: Dorsal rootganglia(also known as the spinalganglia) contain the cell bodies of sensory (afferent) neurons.
