1.

What is izontion energy ?how does it change in the group

Answer»

hello

The ionization energy of the ELEMENTS increases as one moves up a given group because the ELECTRONS are held in lower-energy orbitals, closer to the nucleus and THUS more tightly BOUND (harder to remove).

you move down a group, first ionization energy decreases. WHY? Electrons are further from the nucleus and thus easier to remove the outermost one. 2) As you move across a PERIOD, first ionization energy increases.
