Answer» The alien species compete with our indigenous species. They get invasive and pose a threat to our native species which may even lead to their extinction. Carrot grass (Parthenium), Lantana and water hyacinth (Eichhornia) are invasive weed species. Introduction of Clarias gariepinus (an African catfish) for agriculture is an alien invasive species causing thereat to our native catfishes in our rivers. |
